How did The Dancers' Dietitian begin?

The Dancers' Dietitian began as a concept that combined Cassondra's passions for nutrition and dance as a potential career path. Throughout her studies, she discovered that many dancers struggle to meet their increased nutritional requirements, and most dancers do not receive any nutrition education specific to their needs. This lack of nutrition knowledge can hinder performance, stamina, and overall health. In her own experience, Cassondra realized that she also did not know how to properly fuel herself for long rehearsals and performances until she was in her upper level undergraduate courses. She delved more into this topic through her senior capstone (The Impact of High Protein Intake on Lean Mass and Performance in Female Collegiate Dancers) and a sports nutrition course, in which she conducted research and completed her final project on the nutritional requirements of ballet dancers. For her final practicum to complete her Master of Health Science degree, Cassondra developed a nutrition education program (also titled The Dancers' Dietitian), which used a movement-based approach to teach adolescent dancers nutrition concepts.  She had the opportunity to pilot the program at a local dance studio to see if it had potential. Cassondra found that there is a tremendous need for dancers to receive proper nutrition education, and that movement-based learning can help dancers improve their nutritional knowledge. She then built upon her practicum to develop a business that helps dancers achieve their nutrition and performance goals!
